How to eliminate Lock sign from Folders (Authenticated Users)
The lock icon in Windows 7 indicates that the file or folder can only be accessed by a certain user.
In this case the lock signs appeared after an automatic disk checking procedure (chkdsk) and the entire drive was unaccessible by the Operating System that checked the drive. The files and folders were visible under another operating system but they had a lock sign on them.
