In this video, we take you through the Phase 3 sounds. We look at how to say each sound correctly, and which spelling patterns are associated with each of the sounds in Phase 3. Following on from Phase 2, in Phase 3 children learn the last few single letter sounds. They then learn many digraphs- where two letters make one sound - and some trigraphs - where three letters make one sound. We also look at some of the Phase 3 sounds within words, to demonstrate how children put separate sounds together and ‘blend’ them to read the word.
