When asked who was the strongest warlord of the Sengoku war era, many people probably think of Takeda Shingen. He was so strong that he was called "the Tiger of Kai (Yamanashi Prefecture)," and it is said that even Oda Nobunaga and Tokugawa Ieyasu feared the strength and unity of Takeda's army.

Although Takeda Shingen has such a strong and macho image, he had a surprising weakness. It was… handsome boys. At the time, it was common for warlords to have male lovers, but Shingen was particularly preoccupied with the beautiful boys he fell in love with.

The evidence is left in the letters he wrote. He was in love with a peasant boy called Gensuké, but no matter how many letters he sent, he continued to be rejected.

Shingen was afraid that maybe it was because Gensuké somehow found out that he was actually writing letters to other boys too, so he wrote to Gensuké…

Please don’t get me wrong, the other guys are just friends! I only love you now! I’m not lying! My heart's desire is only you!

No, it wasn’t a teenager writing these letters. It’s an episode of Shingen that makes us realize the “Tiger” was a human too.
