Fantasiestücke 1 by Joan Magrané presents a theme its notes created from Robert Schumann's name. In a free-form style the composer transforms the arpeggio that contains those notes through different character passages along the piece: meditativo, scherzando, contemplative... I enjoy playing this work with its expressive music and the subtle ways to convey it. I find some impressionistic influences and similarities with Mompou's Preludes and his late synthetic style.
