How to celebrate the Persian New Year (Traditional Nowruz) | Haft Seen Table
👉Haft Seen is a traditional custom in the new year holiday of Persians known as Nowruz. Actually it is a table setting with 7 different items which its essential items letters start with “Seen” (Yes, it’s pronounced just like the past participle of see.) “Seen” is the fifteenth letter of the Persian alphabet; meaning “The Seven Seens” in Persian a “Haft Seen” is a symbolic spread.

During Nowruz, the Persian New Year celebration, each vibrant item on the haftseen table has its own symbolic meaning.
Many people celebrate this day, even non-Iranians. Nowruz is an official public holiday in Afghanistan, Albania, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Bayan-Ölgii in Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
What's wonderful is Nowruz has also been officially added to the national calendar of Canada! A bill was passed by the parliament of Canada in 2009. In addition, Nowruz is celebrated by Kurdish people throughout the Middle East, Baloch, Pashtun, and the Shi’a community of Pakistan, Turkic people in China, several different groups in Russia, and by the Parsis in the Indian subcontinent. We can all learn so much from each other and be kind and respectful.
