We thank UK retailer Peter Tyson for their assistance in providing a retail version of the 55-inch Samsung S95C for review and if you want to support our video reviews and channel and are looking for a new TV, then please visit their e-commerce website at https://www.petertyson.co.uk

The Samsung S95C is a step up from last year’s S95B with much better build quality and a gorgeous Infinity One design and One Connect box for source connections. Picture quality is also superb and HDR 10 performance offers some of the best high dynamic range images on the market with stunning colour reproduction and volume. Still, it is a shame there is no Dolby Vision support.

This 2nd generation QD-OLED review TV is a retail example and it manages to get close to what Samsung promised in terms of peak brightness and full-screen brightness while in an accurate picture mode. Video processing is also very good if not quite as polished as the competition from Sony and LG.

Gaming support is also excellent with four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) ports and support for 4K at 144Hz (PC gaming) 4K/120Hz console gaming, ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), eARC and FreeSync Premium Pro VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) as well as the Game Bar Menu and input lag that measures 9.3ms at 4K/60.

Overall, the Samsung S95C is an excellent QD-OLED TV with all the benefits of that technology, wrapped in a much better design than last year and is certainly a *Best Buy*.

The good
Stunning HDR images for colour volume
Excellent peak brightness and full-screen brightness
Very good black levels and shadow detail retrieval in dark room viewing
Excels with high-quality 4K HDR sources
Is very accurate with SDR and HDR content in Filmmaker Mode
Four HDMI 2.1 inputs at 48Gbps
Game Bar
Decent sound quality
Excellent build quality
One Connect box
Solar-powered remote
Decent selection of in-built VOD apps
Panel uniformity is very good

The not so good
Blacks become dark grey and washed out in strong ambient lighting, the screen surface looks the same when switched off due to a lack of a filter
No Dolby Vision support
Dynamic tone mapping can over brighten the image quality, leave it set to Static
Some back-door processing is being applied in SDR modes
