In this video, I show you how to recreate Zinedine Zidane's 4-3-3 Real Madrid tactics in FIFA 23.
This video is based on the original system during his first tenure as Real Madrid manager; between 2016-2018.
Defensively, the team would form a narrow and compact shape in order to prevent teams from playing through the middle; forcing them to try and go around instead. Madrid would counter-press for a short time after losing the ball, before regaining their compact defensive shape and remaining solid.
In possession, Madrid were versatile. Whilst they would generally remain patient and probe for an opening against teams camped in their defensive third, relying on players like Kroos and Modric to open up the defence, games against the likes of Barcelona would see them utilise a dangerous counter-attacking system.
