In this brief video, we describe a couple of tips to consider when trimming and shaping the branches of your Portulacaria afra, or Dwarf Jade, bonsai branches.

Key points to consider:
- Save yourself a step if possible, and trim back to new branches that have started growing in a direction helpful to your design.
- When trimming back to leaf sets; trim flush to them. A little stub is fine. It will dry and fall off in coming weeks.
- Leave at least one leaf set on a branch to ensure the branches survival and future bud development. (Unless you want to remove the branch completely, of course!)
- Have a plan before you trim and remove one internode at a time if you ware worried about taking too much off. Just take your time and enjoy the process!
