Shangri-La is a fictional place name that first appeared in the 1933 novel Lost Horizon by British novelist James Hilton. It is a small village, mysterious and harmonious, located in the west of the Kunlun Mountains, surrounded by mountains and ruled by a Tibetan Buddhist monastery. In the novel, the inhabitants of this village are immortal and live a happy life. In recent years, due to the popularity of the concept of Shangri-La, some areas in the People's Republic of China are vying to claim to be the real place of Shangri-La, including Zhongdian in Lijiang in Yunnan, Aden in Daocheng in Sichuan, and Zayu, Bomi and Nyingchi in Tibet.
