A 17th-century house in Orkney was the setting for the story of a journey from Seville to Granada in 1829, made by a man whose parents came from the Orkney island of Shapinsay -- the American writer Washington Irving. And to follow the talk, Liz Ashworth created an afternoon tea menu with Orkney ingredients and a Moorish theme. With smoked mackerel and farmhouse cheese, and a touch of lavender and rose petals, it all comes together in the dining room of Skaill House, situated by an Orkney shore close to the ancient village of Skara Brae.
